We started these lesson videos during Covid for our dancers who couldn't come to the lessons. Our focus has been for beginners. We feel a detailed explanation from a different perspective would help in addition to a regular class with a local instructor.
Doing the videos involves a lot of mental prep work. And preparing the video to go on YouTube takes far longer than actually doing the taping. We get nothing out of it except satisfaction from the comments and emails we receive.
There may be other cuers putting lessons online but as of now I'm not aware of who they are.
Many are putting dances online, but they are usually without an explanation of the movements involved. I've put a few of those on as well. Now I prefer to explain each dance with the demo.
We will continue to do more as time allows us, including other rhythms. I just need to be sure what we teach conforms with Roundalab standards, trying to avoid repercussions. If any of these lessons is in conflict from your local cuer, then listen to your cuer and not us. But please get back to me so the video can be corrected. Some of the earlier lessons may also be redone as a better teach may be necessary.
